I am not going to pretend I always knew how to take care of my body. I did not. For most of my life, I was the woman in the room who felt like her body was working against her. I am sharing my story because the woman I built this program for is the woman I used to be. And if anything in these words sounds familiar, I want you to know there is a way through.
Where I Started
My relationship with food and my body started going sideways in 6th grade. We ate what we thought was healthy back then. Cereal, low-fat milk, margarine. All the things the boxes and commercials said were good for us. Add in the stress of becoming a teenager, a cross-country move to a new state, and a body that did not understand what was happening to it, and by high school I was weighing over 250 pounds and wearing a size 22.
I felt like something was fundamentally wrong with me. That I was just built differently. That I would always be bigger than everyone, always uncomfortable in my own skin. Nobody told me that the problem was not me. The problem was the information I had been given.
The Years of Trying Everything
My twenties and thirties were a series of attempts to fix myself. Crash diets. Diet pills. Chronic cardio. In college, my go-to combination was Snackwells Devils Food Chocolate Cakes, Diet Mountain Dew, and cigarettes. I am not proud of it. I lost a few pounds. I was also slowly destroying myself.
Eventually I got myself down to 156 pounds and a size 13. You want to know how I did it? Diuretic teas. Fat burning pills. Protein shakes. Supplements. More pills. I was chasing a number on a scale with no regard for what I was actually doing to my body. And every single time, the weight came back. Plus 10, sometimes 15 more pounds. The yo-yo was relentless. I started over on Monday more times than I can count.
The Moment Everything Changed
In 2020, I had two root canals. Three months later, my skin started acting up. Sores appeared on my scalp and my legs. I had never experienced anything like it. I brushed it off as stress. Then six months later my entire body broke out in hives. I was scared and had no idea what was happening.
I went to my dermatologist. They were at a loss. They prescribed antibiotics and prednisone and sent me home. This cycle repeated for six more months. The issue persisted. The medications were not helping. I felt miserable, and no one had any answers.
Over the next year and a half, I continued to work long hours, sit most of the day, eat terribly, barely sleep, and carry a level of stress and depression that I had normalized. Then my legs started swelling. In July 2022 I ended up in the ER with a very high D-Dimer — the test used for DVT. Thankfully it was not life-threatening. But it scared me enough to take the follow-up seriously.
At the vein clinic, a PA told me baby aspirin and compression stockings were all I needed. Then the doctor came in and recommended a black-box-warning prescription, a vein study, and a chemical ablation. We went from baby aspirin to a serious blood thinner in the span of one appointment. I never went back.
How I Actually Healed
That health coach asked me questions no doctor ever had. She asked about my dental work. She suggested I see a holistic dentist. She thought my skin issues might be connected to the root canals. I was skeptical. But I was also desperate and done with guessing.
I made the appointment. I followed her guidance. More protein, healthy fats, remove the processed foods, remove grains and gluten. The dentist discovered that both root canals had become infected. And the moment those two teeth were removed, the relief was instant. Years of suffering, and the answer had been hiding in my mouth.
From that moment, I took my health into my own hands. I researched. I studied. I used myself as the experiment. I started healing in a way I had never experienced before. For the first time in my adult life, the scale was moving in a consistent downward trend. Without chronic cardio. Without starving myself. Without killing myself at the gym. Without starting over every Monday. I was actually enjoying my life again.
Why I Built This Program
That journey led me to become a certified health coach. Not because I had it figured out from the beginning, but because I lived through not having it figured out. I am a single mom. I have navigated my own health journey while managing everything else life throws at a woman doing it largely on her own. I know what it feels like to be stuck. To feel helpless. To ask question after question and get no real answers from the people who are supposed to have them.
I built Unstuck Yourself and Brazen and Bold Wellness for the person who is stuck, who feels helpless, who cannot get the answers they need and deserve. My journey is not a credential I put on a wall. It is the experience I bring into every coaching relationship. I have walked through the valleys. I know what it takes to get over the peaks. And I will walk with you through both.
My approach is built on one principle that changed everything for me: restoration, not restriction. Your body is not broken. It is not working against you. It has been under-fueled, over-stressed, under-slept, and pushed through on willpower alone for too long. What it needs is not less. It needs better.
What I Believe
I am not your typical health coach.
I am a single mom who wore a size 22 in high school, tried every crash diet in existence, ended up in the ER, and found her way through not by following the rules but by finally questioning them. My journey is my experience. That experience is what I bring to every client I work with.
I built this program because I needed it and it did not exist. I am here for the person who is stuck, who feels helpless, who cannot get answers from conventional medicine or cookie-cutter programs. You deserve someone who has actually been there. Someone who knows the valleys and will hype you over every single peak.
Welcome to Brazen and Bold Wellness. Let's get you unstuck.
